Futile frogs lept from the creek, all forfeit
A spiel recited, robotic, times and events like clay-
Crumbling in loops, like Cheerios in breakfast soup

Tiptoe past expectations, wait till they're there (and with you)
Running water tripped, I heard a sound on the stair (Is there issue?)
Glanced in the room to the bed, left made with such care (seemingly bid adieu)
Stubborn you descended, stubborn I pretended, unfair! (and you, in need of tissues)
